The Mathematics Department aims to:

• Equip Marists with mathematical knowledge and skills for everyday life and an increasingly technology-driven world;

• Develop in Marists the ability to think logically, critically, and analytically as confident problem-solvers; and

• Nurture a strong mathematical foundation so that Marists are well-prepared for mathematics and related disciplines in their future education.

To achieve the Department’s goals, the following programmes are offered:

• Mathematical Modelling

• Real-world problem-solving tasks

• Sec 1 to 4 Singapore Mathematical Olympiad Training (selected pupils)

Marists are given the opportunities to participate in the following competitions:

• Singapore Mathematical Olympiad

• JC and Polytechnic Mathematics Challenges

• Mathletics

数学部致力于：

• 赋予海星学子应对日常生活及日益科技化世界所需的数学知识与技能；

• 培养逻辑、批判及分析等方面的思维能力，使学生们能够自信地解决问题；以及

• ⁠奠定扎实的数学基础，帮助海星学子在日后持续学习数学及相关学科时做好准备。

为实现这些目标，数学部提供了多样化的课程与活动：

• 数学建模

• 实境任务

• ⁠新加坡数学奥林匹克培训（限于中一至中四生获选学生）

学生也有机会在各赛事中展示才能，例如：

• 新加坡数学奥林匹克竞赛

• ⁠初院与理工学院数学挑战赛

• 数学竞赛
