The English Language Department aims to:

• Develop Marists into confident and effective communicators who are future-ready and equipped to contribute meaningfully in a globalised world.

• Provide engaging, purposeful and learner-centred experiences that develop students’ language, literacy and 21st Century Competencies.  

• Develop teachers as confident and reflective practitioners committed to continuous professional learning.

• Wits & Words: Inter-School Debate Championship

• YMCA Plain English Speaking Award (PESA)

• Mythos (Junior Orators) Storytelling Competition

• Creative Writing Programme (CWP)
