The school held its annual commemoration of National Day on 7 August 2013, Wednesday. This year was the first time we celebrated Hari Raya Puasa in conjunction with National Day celebrations. We started off the National Day commemoration with the Cadet Scouts marching into the school hall bearing the State Flag and School Flag. After the National Day segment, a presentation of what and how Ramadan is being practised and an entertaining skit by the Singapore Agents and a few teachers showcased a day in a life of a Muslim family during the fasting month. We ended the celebrations with a slide show of how our Muslim teachers celebrate Hari Raya Puasa.
The atmosphere at Orchid Bowl Yishun Safra was filled with intense excitement as our school team bowlers competed with their counterparts from other schools. With a strong sense of teamwork, sheer determination and perseverance, Marist bowlers showed that they were a force to be reckoned with. Though the competition was tight, our Marist Bowlers emerged as the first runner up in both the overall junior and senior school team events. We would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the teachers, parents and supporters who were there to cheer our bowlers on as they fought to bring glory to our school. Great job, Marists!

North Zone Inter-school Table Tennis Championship 2014
‘B’ Division School Team - Champion
‘C’ Division School Team - 4
Our boys fought admirably and made our opponents work hard for every single point. It was not enough for our 'C' Boys, unfortunately, as they lost to better opponents in the Finals. However, our 'B' Boys did the school proud by emerging as the overall Champion!
As Marist sportsmen, they display determination to achieve the best result and resilience in defeat and loss. Wishing our boys all the best in their upcoming National Championships!North Zone Inter-school Table Tennis Championship 2014
As part of the Marist Arts Explorer Programme, our very first lunchtime gig was held on the 24th of April within the greenery of the Champagnat Green. It was a first for Ms Shen Jiahui and our students, Soong Tse Kiat, Justin Kuan and Benedict Kang to perform a medley of pop song for the Marist Family. Not only was the crowd able to enjoy the musical performances as they tucked in to lunch, they were also inspired and encouraged by the technical virtuoso of Tse Kiat's piano medley, Justin Kuan and Benedict Kang's "Firework" as well as Ms Shen's encouraging words for the upcoming SA1 as embodied by Pink's "Try".
For the National Inter-school Table-Tennis Championships, our School Teams are ranked 3rd for the ‘B’ and ‘C’ divisions. The ‘C’ Division players fought against rivals Dunman High School and they won the match with a score of 3 to 1. For the ‘B’ Division, Catholic High School could not break our formidable School Team as our ‘B’ Division players won the match with a score of 3 to 0. Congratulations!
“The will to win means nothing if you haven’t the will to prepare.” – Juma Ikangaa. For this year’s cross-country event, it was held on the last day of Term 1 at Punggol Waterpoint. Our competitive runners braved the gruelling distance in spite of the blistering heat on that Friday morning. Even for the other runners, we could see our Marists encouraging each other to finish the race, not wanting to leave anyone behind.
The North Zone Inter-school Badminton Tournament 2013 concluded on 6 March and we are proud to announce that the Maris Stella Badminton Team achieved excellent results! The ‘C’ Division boys were up against Singapore Sports School for the championship title and after a tough fight, we lost to Sports School and came in 2nd in the North Zone. The ‘B’ Division boys fought hard against Bowen Secondary School and we won and emerged as 2nd runner up in the North Zone. Congratulations to the team and we are very proud of the Team’s stellar performance that afternoon!
